Abdurrazak Muhammad Assistant Lecturer (Biochemistry) muhammad.abdurrazak@sun.edu.ng Abdurrazak Muhammad is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry, Skyline University Nigeria (SUN). He has an M.Sc. in Medical Biochemistry from Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (Unisza) Malaysia and a B.sc in Biochemistry from Bayero University Kano (BUK). He has an A-level certificate of course completion in global health, certificate of participation in laboratory animal handling from Universiti Sain Malayisa, certificate of participation in laboratory practice in natural products research from IIUM Malaysia and a certificate of computer application management from Unisza Malaysia. He specializes in the teaching of general Biochemistry and Biochemistry related courses. He is a member of National Association of Biochemistry and molecular biology (NABMB), Nigerian chapter.
Mr. Abdurrazak has over 5 years of work experience in teaching and extensive research in the area of Biochemistry, both theoretically and practically from institutions such as Al-qalam University Katsina, Aminu Dabo College of Health Sciences, and Ado Bayero Institute of Education. He has received training in handling Biochemistry and molecular biology instruments.
His research interest spans through (but not limited to) the areas of Biochemistry and Toxicology, with a specific interest in Neuroscience and plant biochemistry, medicinal chemistry and Phytomedicine. His key and keen area of scientific research and interest include the alleviation of chronic diseases with phytochemicals such as flavonoids, phenolics and saponins as an alternative and safe therapy. He is widely published in reputable journals internationally. He has about Eleven (11) publications to his credit in Scopus and ISI indexed journals. He has presented a paper at International Conference organized by the Centre for research and innovation management (Crim ) Unisza Malaysia. His recent papers “Two decades of Neuroscience publication trends in Africa” and “Hepatoprotective effect of aqueous leaf extract of Balanite aegyptica on CCL4 induced liver damage in albiono rats were published in Nature Communications and Journal of Medicinal Plant Studies in February 2021 and June 2018 respectively. Currently, He is working on the Isolation and characterization Syringin from tepals of Musa paradisiaca and evaluation of its in vitro and in vivo antiperkinsonic effect.
