B.N.Sc. Nursing Science
The Philosophy of the Nursing degree programme is hinged on believes that Man is a biopsychosocial being, and his needs are the focus of all nursing activities in its efforts towards achieving a high level of wellness. Courses shall be provided leading to the award of a degree – Bachelor of Nursing Science, which will be awarded with honours. Courses to be taught at this level should include English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Students are also introduced to computer science.
- To offer liberal/general and professional education which enables utilization of psychosocial and physical factors in health promotion, health maintenance and health restoration
- To prepare the student nurse to think effectively, to communicate thoughts and to shun patient discrimination
- The programme aims to produce polyvalent Nurse practitioners, capable of executing nursing skills in a variety of settings, therapeutically assisting individuals, family and community with diverse backgrounds and health problems.
- The programme prepares nurse practitioners who are capable of relating the role of health services to the broader social system and who will be engaged in life-long and self-directed learning.
