When an infant doss not eat well, he feels sick, sad, bored, miserable, frightened and hopelees (El-Maary, E. 1973). In Egypt as in many other deTeloping countries, undernutrition and malnutrition are prevalent among infants and roung children, l’esulting from large number of eorrelative factors, such as poverty, ignorance, psychologic-al effects, illiteracy of mothers, superstition, lactation failure, lack of knowledge of how and what to give to the baby. (El-Masry, E. 197J). Moreover, in Egypt the production of fresh milk is insufficient, and attempts to increase its production are either impractical or uneconomical; besides this , there is as shortage of impor•teti milk and milk prod11c ts which ~e . very expensive .(El-Masry, E. 1973). Although milk of many species of ~ma~s is the best food, next to human milk, yet 1~ has been noticed that other foods in addition to milk are necessary.
