The determination of the fine flux distribution in the reac tor lattices is considered as one of the important tasks in reactor design. Fine flux can be determined by solving the integral transport equation. One of the most important methods for the solution of this equation i,s 11 The collision probabilities method”. This work presents a detailed analysis of two dimensional collision probability, namely in (R,Z) and (x,y) geometries. A new analysis for the expressions of collision probabilities is introduced, with two developed programs PXY and PRZ for calc ulations of collision probabilities in the (x,y) and the (11,Z) geometries, respectively. PXY program makes use of the expressions of collision proba bilities in the (x,y) space which may represent a fuel assembly composed of two dimensional (2D) array of fuel, guid tube, and burnable poison cells. A new numerical approach in the line integration, based on the selection of variable mesh spacing between adjacent lines according to their angles, is presented. In fact, this approach leads to a considerable reduction in computation without affecting the precision. The assembly is divided into a number of pillars with rectangular cross section according to its material. Each pillar is considered a)Thesis(M.SC)-Alex.UN.Fac.of Eng.Dep.of Nuclear Engineering. a)The determination of the fine flux distribution in the reac tor lattices is considered as one of the important tasks in reactor design.
