Relationship between financial literacy and student’s entrepreneurial intention

Abstract
Nowadays, financial literacy has gained scholar’s attention and also it is highly debated topic among researchers due to recent worldwide financial fraud has led the government to focus on financial awareness towards its citizen. Spreading the financial awareness is very important to improve people’s financial literacy and playing a role in country healthy economy. Furthermore, entrepreneurship is one of the most important tasks towards country’s economic growth and it represents an important source of employment also. In the country youth are also wants to advancements of entrepreneurial education. The objective of this paper is to explore the concepts related financial literacy and its importance as a medium that is helpful to increase the entrepreneurship intention among post graduate final year management and commerce students in Haryana. The main purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of financial literacy on student’s entrepreneurship intention and also fill the gap in the financial literacy literature. For collecting data questionnaire method will be used and author divide questionnaire in four major parts. This study used quantitative survey method to collect data among 168 management and commerce students from Maharshi Dayanand University in Rohtak (Haryana). The survey includes some items that measure the level of financial literacy and some items that measure constructs of student’s intention towards entrepreneurship. In this study researcher used descriptive statistic analysis like frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation were employed to analyze research problems to gather the response from respondents.

SHARMILA SINGH is a Senior Research Fellow in the Institute of Management Studies and Research (IMSAR) in Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Haryana, India. I completed B.Ed. from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak and M.Com from Choudhary Bansilal University, Bhiwani, Haryana state, India and currently I registered in Ph.D. research work with specialization on financial management.  I have presented more than 10 research paper in national and international conferences.

DR. ISHWAR MITTAL
is currently working as Assistant Professor at Institute of Management Studies and Research (IMSAR), Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak.  Formerly, he worked as Faculty in Management Studies at JVMGRR College, Charkhi Dadri; VaishIMT, Rohtak, BITS, Bhiwani and TIT&S, Bhiwani. He is also empanelled as Resource Person for Financial Education Programs with Securities and Exchange Board of India. He passed his post-graduation in Marketing Management from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and MBA (HR) from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak. Besides, he also holds M. Phil. in Management. He has also qualified UGC NET in the subjects of Management & Commerce. He has completed his Doctorate of Philosophy from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak in the area of consumer awareness and protection. He is having total experience of 20 years in industry as well as academics. He is the Associate Editor of Bi-annual ISSN Journal ‘RMS Journal of Management & IT’. He is widely travelled and conducted more than 285 SEBI’s Financial Education and Investor Awareness Workshops as main speaker at various locations across Haryana and NCR. He has published 32 research papers and 2 books. He has participated in 97 national and international conferences/ seminars/ workshops.
