The Department of Computer Science at Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) has celebrated Computer Science Week 2024. The week-long celebration that started on the 29th of April 2024 and ended today 3rd May 3, 2024, with all students studying computer science, cybersecurity, and software engineering at the university.
In his opening remarks, the Dean of the School of Science and Information Technology (SSIT), Dr. A. Senthil Kumar, said the celebration was done to encourage students to adopt innovative and technological developments to solve societal challenges and inspire the youth.
In his remarks, Dr. Ashok Kumar, a lecturer in the department of computer science at SUN, who started the celebration activities on the first day with ‘Prompt Engineering’ explained that artificial intelligence is part of global developments that cannot be escaped. He admitted it will be of immense benefit for the students to learn AI input design, which is needed globally.
Delivering his session on the IEEE Webinar on ‘Artificial Intelligence Facilities’ by Mr. Isaac Iwalaiye, the Customer Success Account Manager at Microsoft, said it was a moment of delight for him to speak to SUN students. He highlighted some of the important AI facilities, such as proactive facility management and data-driven insights, as tools that can aid students in the development of influential AI facilities. He appreciated SUN for the invitation to speak to the students.
Students from level 100 to level 400 for studying computer science-related courses also participated in the application development challenge and paid a technical visit to 403 Flying School. This was also to enhance their skills in technology.
The Computer Science Week 2024 ended today with the Social Network Film coordinated by Ms. Hamdi Liwaul Labaran and Ms. Fatima Sharif Ali, a level 400 student studying software engineering.
