The Corporate Affairs Department has organized a virtual guest lecture for students of the School of Arts, Management and Social Science (SAMSS) at Skyline University Nigeria (SUN). The event was organized to enable students to interface and learn from experts from around the world. It is also part of SUN’s ongoing commitment to providing students with diverse learning experiences that bridge academia and real-world practices.
The session, themed ‘The Journey of a CEO’, hosted Dr. Kuiljeit Uppaal, the world’s first image scientist, an impact and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Dr. Uppaal brought her vast expertise to the SUN community, sharing her personal and professional journey, including her motivations, career milestones, and the challenges she has overcome in her path to success.
Dr. Uppaal admitted that every journey has obstacles for people who are willing to excel. Her explanations focused on resilience and the power of a clear vision, which served as a motivating example for students aspiring to leadership roles in their respective fields. She said the students at SUN are lucky to have the opportunity to enhance their learning through direct engagement with global industry leaders.
Through an interactive question-and-answer session, the students gained valuable insights into the realities of executive decision-making and strategic thinking. This lecture not only provided an opportunity for students to learn about the traits and mindset required to excel in leadership but also underscored the importance of adaptability, integrity, and personal branding in today’s competitive job market.
She then encouraged SUN students to be financially independent and always take any challenge in their career as a drive for them to be better versions of themselves. She also appreciated the vice chancellor for the opportunity and SUN for giving the platform to interact with SUN students.
