To the management, entire staff and students, tremendous growth was recorded, especially in terms of academic excellence and reputation. The institution has soared in the heart of Kano and even around the world due to the unmatched representation exhibited by students, faculty and management in various capacities.

The list of activities that have significantly improved the reputation of the internationally recognized citadel of learning is remarkably enormous. SUN witnessed a grand matriculation ceremony for its students. The event, ably coordinated by the management, led to the formal acceptance of the students into the institution with their preferred careers of their choice. The vice chancellor of SUN, Prof. Ajith Kumar V. V., addressed the students in the important gathering, where he reiterated the importance of dedication to excellence and value-based education as the important pillars among which the university stands tall today.

Another important activity that happened on the part of the students was the emergence of the 2nd and 3rd runner-up winners in the Tie-Dubai competition. The contest supported a level 300 student, Aisha Kabir, the 2nd runner-up winner, to secure a mentorship and funding opportunity fully sponsored by the university after she presented a mind-blowing business plan in the university’s start-up challenge. Her achievement has greatly motivated other students to initiate innovative ideas and programs while capitalizing on entrepreneurship. Another student was able to create a food delivery application called ‘AM JANNAH ENTREPRISES’.

More so, SUN, the first international private university in northern Nigeria, witnessed a memorable expansion. With the immense support of the National Universities Commission (NUC), the institution got accreditation to commence additional courses in the various fields of endeavor. Most notably, there was the commencement of the School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS), which offers over 10 courses in the schools of Science and Information Technology (SSIT), Arts, Management, and Social Sciences (SAMSS) and Basic Medical Sciences (SBMS).

Skyline University Nigeria, in a show-stopping moment, welcomed the founder, Mr. Kamal Puri. The institution was full of excitement to witness him commission its ultra-modern common room and gymnasium. Mr. Puri also toured the campus while commending the principal officers for their excellent job of lifting the university to greater heights.

The first grand combined convocation ceremony of the university was also a landmark achievement for the university. Over 30 students were able to emerge as class toppers and were publicly praised for their unwavering hard work that led to their success. Some of the important dignitaries that attended the event include the founder chairman, Mr. Kamal Puri, members of the university senate and governing council, and representatives of government and emirate councils. The graduates were encouraged to be good ambassadors of SUN by depicting their distinguishing skills and morals.

In aspects of networking, capacity building and visibility, SUN faculty have invited various academics and influential people within and outside Nigeria to share their invaluable experiences with students and faculty. For instance, to mention a few, Aysha Tofa and Anju Ganglani, among others, were specifically chosen to address crucial areas of personal development, professional expertise and networking. Accordingly, the Students Service Department (SSD), under the leadership of Ms. Sarada Maganti, the Director of Academic Support Services (DASS), conducted over 13 changing gear activities by hosting several final-year students in school across Kano States.

SUN will forever remain proud of these milestones and the unwavering support received by the Kano community, staff, management and students. The institution looks forward to a brighter and more prosperous adventure in 2024.
