In its continuing undergraduate students orientation for 2024/2025, the management of Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) has engaged the new students on an industry connect session and an ICT day. The sessions were held on November 5th and 6th, 2024, respectively, to learn from the wealth of experience of the specialists in diverse fields of endeavor, which include ICT and entrepreneurship, among others.
The event, a staple in SUN’s commitment to fostering academic-industry connections, brought together industry experts, ICT professionals, and SUN’s faculty to provide incoming undergraduate students with a robust foundation in the practical, technical, and professional skills necessary for success in the modern workforce.
During the industry connect session on November 5th, 2024, Mr. Ahmed Idris, the Executive Director at EnovateLab, and Dr. Ghali Moses Musa, the group Managing Director of Alpha Nova Limited. The students had the opportunity to interact directly with these leaders, who shared enormous experience on the importance of leadership and lifelong skills in managing a business. They emphasized the need for the students to learn industry best practices in their chosen fields of study. Their sessions provided invaluable insights into current trends, challenges, and innovations.
In his own session on November 6th, 2024, Mr. Rolland Olaleye, a tech expert and IT professional, highlighted some of the skills that enabled him to succeed in his journey in the IT world. He explained that mental health, leadership and innovation are important in leading teams and giving good outputs.
Giving the closing remarks, Mr. Trimisiyu Omotayo Lawal, the Head of Student Affairs department, stated that the knowledge imparted on the students will surely guide them through their journey in the university and beyond.
