This heartening remark was made on Thursday, 16th January 2020 when the Management team of BUK paid an official visit to Skyline University Nigeria. The visiting team from BUK present at the meeting included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Adamu Idris Tanko, the Registrar, Hajiya Fatima Binta Mohammed, the Director of Academic Planning, Prof. Bala Sidi Aliyu, the Director of CIT, Prof. Bashir Galadanci, the Representative of the University Librarian Hajia Razika Muhammed Yahaya, the Director of IIIBF, Prof. Binta Tijjani Jibril, & the Head of Legal Unit, Barr. Hadiza J. Mohammed.

While speaking on the purpose of his team visit, Prof. Prof. Adamu Idris Tanko stated that his team was visiting for the first time as a response to the mandate received from the NUC to mentor Skyline University Nigeria, the first international private university in Northwest region of Nigeria. “We value your 30 years’ experience in higher education in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) but Nigeria is a new environment for you and we have come to look at some of the issues that might be useful for your success in Nigeria” he added.

He described the visit as a mentor-mentee relationship which according to him was not new to BUK as she was at one point a mentee to Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria. “We also believe that guidance is necessary and we want to share our experiences in Nigeria with you, and in return learn from your vast experience in the UAE, he stated.

In his remark to the visiting team, The Vice-Chancellor of Skyline University Nigeria, Prof. Sudhakar Kota, who gave a presentation on the current status of the university, stated that the mentoring period is a good time to bond and learn from both universities. “Within this period, we will adopt the carefully framed core values geared at addressing issues of national and global interest to become the best private university in Nigeria”, the VC said.

While shedding light on the mentor-mentee mandate, Prof. Kota assured the visiting team that Skyline University Nigeria will strive to maintain credible standards to drive the vision and mission that led to the establishment of the university. He stated that the institution is open to collaboration in joint research, library resource, indigenous and international technology amongst others which is vital for any institution of higher learning.
