Mass Communication Department students at Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) have paid a technical visit to the television and radio broadcast stations at Bayero University Kano. The level 200 and 400 students were accompanied by Dr. Saminu Umar, Mr. Usman Balarabe Bello, lecturers at the Department of Mass Communication and Mr. Umar Farouk Isma’il, the corporate affairs executive at the university.
In his remarks, Dr. Saminu Umar stated that the purpose of the visit is to show the students the practical and technical aspects of broadcasting in both radio and television production. He said the visit will also expose the students to standard production processes and encourage them to create innovative works in the future.
Dr. Umar also highlighted the fact that broadcast stations play multifaceted roles in our societies by enriching lives, fostering communication, promoting cultural exchange, and contributing to social, economic, and educational development.
Ms. Hanan Abubakar, a level 400 student from the Mass Communication Department who was part of the students that undertook the visit, expressed her satisfaction with the visit. She said the first-hand experience of the broadcasting activities was surely enriching. She admitted that the knowledge they have gained will be useful to them in their future endeavors.
