Dr. Sudha Mavuri, a seasoned entrepreneurship expert and the Dean of the School of Arts, Management and Social Sciences (SAMSS), has stated that “pursuing entrepreneurial ambition is very important for women in today’s world.” The economics professional made this statement during the women empowerment seminar conducted by Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) on September 20th, 2024.
In her opening remarks for the seminar titled ‘Mompreneur: Empower and Excel’, Ms. Sarada Maganti, the Director of Public and Government Relations (DOPR) at SUN, highlighted that the program is part of the university’s corporate social responsibility, which ensures the communities are empowered with knowledge to easily navigate future challenges. She said entrepreneurship drives innovation and the development of societies. This is why the university conducts empowerment trainings to equip women with skills that can help them advance their businesses.
Dr. Mavuri admitted that entrepreneurship is instrumental in supporting women attain enviable heights while nurturing their homes. Knowledgeable entrepreneurs are equipped with the skills necessary to compete in the globalized corporate world, adapt to technological advancements, and employ information and communication technology (ICT) applications in their day-to-day operations, she said.
She then highlighted some practical skills that can empower the participants to have a smooth balance between family life and entrepreneurial skills. Some of the skills she explained include journaling, emotional intelligence, mental health knowledge, networking, ICT skills, e. t. c. Dr. Mavuri emphasized the need for the participants to explore opportunities for new learning online as the world is transformed by technology at all times.
Over 40 participants from different entrepreneurial backgrounds attended the training.
