Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) has commenced orientation for new undergraduate and postgraduate students for the 2024/2025 academic year yesterday, November 4th 2024. The program was designed to usher the students into their new academic journeys into the university and to orient them on the exceptional educational milestones that they will gain from the university. This event also marks the beginning of an exciting journey for new students, providing them with valuable insights into the academic and social aspects of university life at SUN.
In his opening remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of SUN, Prof. Ajith Kumar V. V., shared SUN’s mission and values, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, ethical values, and global citizenship. He encouraged students to seize every opportunity and make the most of their university experience by participating in SUN’s diverse academic, cultural, and extracurricular programs.
The SUN registrar, Mr. Ahmed Muhammed Abdullahi, who also spoke during the occasion, highlighted the importance of learning and desisting from examination malpractices. He said such activities are frowned at by the university, and that is why the university employed the most qualified lecturers to impart knowledge. He congratulated all the students for starting their higher education journey.
Other principal officers who spoke during the occasion include head librarian Dr. Abdullahi Bala Shehu, the Dean of the School of Arts Management and Social Sciences (SAMSS), Dr. Sudha Mavuri, the School of Science and Information Technology (SSIT), Dr. S. Senthil Kumar, and representatives from the Schools of Basic Medical Sciences (SBMS) and Legal Studies (SLS), among others.
Throughout the orientation, students received guidance on essential topics, including campus policies, academic programs, and the resources available to support their educational journey. Faculty members provided an overview of the academic departments and introduced the robust support systems in place to ensure students succeed both academically and personally.
Special workshops are currently ongoing to prepare students for university life, covering areas like time management, study skills, and mental well-being. The program also includes interactive sessions with current students and alumni, who will share their experiences and offer insights into adjusting to campus life.
