Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) has commenced orientation and registration for the first cohort of the Professional Short-Term Digital Skills Certification Program on November 5, 2024. The program, themed ‘Unlock Digital Careers: Master Skills for Tomorrow’s Jobs’, will be conducted by SUN is sponsored by the World Bank in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education.
In his opening remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of SUN, Prof. Ajith Kumar V. V., congratulated all the participants that were selected for the program. He said, ‘I don’t believe you are here by chance; I believe that you are here to utilize the opportunity.’ He encouraged them to make the best of the opportunity, as there are thousands of youth searching for the same opportunity in their communities.
In his remarks also, the project coordinator, MB Sani Wada Bala, said it is truly a remarkable opportunity for the youth at a time when the world is in need of such skills. He said the participants are very fortunate to learn from experienced tutors at the university, and they will obtain certifications in ICT tools, web design and desktop publishing, programming (C, C++, Java), AI, cybersecurity, and machine learning.
Delivering her remarks during the program, the Director of Government and Public Relations (DOPR), Ms. Sarada Maganti, said the program is specially geared towards equipping youths with in-demand skills. She said the university and the sponsors are certain that the beneficiaries will be employable after the program.
Other SUN faculty who were part of the event include the Dean of the School of Science and Information Technology (SSIT), Dr. A. Senthil Kumar, Dr. Ashok Kumar and Mr. Abdullahi Sani.
