Skyline University Nigeria conducts placement training for Students

Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) conducted a placement training for students at the university yesterday, 14th June 2024. The training was done to inform students about the industry demands that can help them perfectly secure jobs after graduation.

The corporate affairs executive, Mr. Umar Faruk Isma’il, while delivering the opening remarks, said the university sources the best from the industry to talk to students about skills needed in the industry. He applauded SUN management for always ensuring the availability of experts for guest sessions, which are highly impactful for students personal and professional development.

Mr. Danjuma Samaila, the Head of Human Resources Department at Bristol Palace Kano, stated that he was impressed with the reception from the management of SUN. In his lecture titled ‘CV writing and interviews’, he explained to the students that experience is always an asset, which they have to get practically. Other things he mentioned include smartness, communication and interaction.

He said, “Your academics are not enough. You must complement them with professional experiences.” He then encouraged them to be confident during all professional engagements. For interviews, he said confidence is one thing that can win the hearts of human resource managers.

Mr. Samaila also advised the students to read widely and deliberate. He said knowledge gained from reading books can equip them with the capacity to interact with people of different backgrounds seamlessly. He also stated the significance of internships and voluntary work as stepping stones for bigger roles.

Delivering the closing remarks, the dean, School of Arts, Management and Social Sciences (SAMSS), Dr. Sudha Mavuri, expressed her appreciation for the conduct of the session. She applauded initiatives like SIWES, NYSC and other internships as good interventions that can help students acquire fruitful experiences and enable them to translate their knowledge into practical skills.
