Skyline University Nigeria conducts pre NYSC orientation for final year students

Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) has, on May 5th, 2025, conducted a Pre-NYSC Orientation Programme for its final-year students, preparing them for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme. The orientation, which brought together students from various departments, was organized to equip prospective corps members with essential information and life skills that will enable them to transition smoothly into the one-year mandatory national service.

The event featured insightful sessions facilitated by university staff and invited experts who shared practical guidance on topics such as NYSC registration procedures, expectations during service, and how to navigate deployment challenges. Students were also briefed on the importance of discipline, adaptability, community service, and personal development while serving in various parts of the country. These sessions aimed to foster a sense of national responsibility and cultural tolerance among the participants.

In addition to the technical aspects of NYSC preparation, the orientation also focused on health, safety, and career planning. Final-year students were advised on how to stay safe in unfamiliar environments, maintain good physical and mental health, and take advantage of NYSC as a platform for networking, learning, and career growth. Discussions also included how to utilize the service year to develop entrepreneurial skills and identify job opportunities.

The Pre-NYSC Orientation Programme reflects SUN’s holistic approach to education, which goes beyond the classroom to include personal and professional development. By offering guidance at this critical transition stage, the university continues to demonstrate its dedication to producing well-rounded graduates who are not only academically equipped but also prepared to contribute meaningfully to national development.
