The serene ambience of Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) on Friday, 9th April 2021 was pervaded with excitement and hi-fi music. The university, through the office of the Event Coordinator, Ms. Nafisa Inuwa, in cordination with returning students, planned a party for the fresh students (neophytes). The neophytes, who resumed academic activities for the 2020/2021 academic session enjoyed themselves amongst their peers.
A returning student Mr. Haruna Baffa of the Management Department and a fresh student, Ms. Sara Natour of Micro-Biology, acted as Masters of Ceremonies (MC). Both MCs introduced the performance and speakers in a way that puts them at ease, announces items on the agenda, and were able to perform each of these tasks in a timely fashion. They ensured a seamless transition between sections of the Programmeme and kept the event moving at a steady pace. Returning students were also on hand with coordinating some sections of the event.
While welcoming the students, faculty and staff to the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ajith Kumar V.V, congratulated the new students and encouraged them to have a blissful celebration. While advising them to continually uphold academic prowess and the sanctity and integrity of Skyline University Nigeria, he stated that the fresher’s party is not a time to focus on academic activities but organized for the students to socialize and acculturate with the SUN environment.
The neophytes could not hide their joy as they expressed their happiness through their performance in key highlights of the Programmeme – Mr & Ms Freshers; Cultural dance; Stage performance; Talent hunt; Lucky Draw, and Fireworks being offered at the fresher party. Ms. Fatima Nasidi, of the Department of Computer Science and Mr. Kabiru Yakubu Mohammed of the Department of Software Engineering were crowned Queen and King of Fresher 2020/2021.
