Skyline University Nigeria hosts Indian High Commissioner in Nigeria

The management of Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) has graciously received the His Excellency the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. G. Balasubramanian, his wife, Mrs. Uma Balasubramanian, the Deputy High Commissioner, Ms. Vartika Rawat, the Defense Attache, Col. Romi Singh Lagha and other representatives of the Indian Community in Kano State on its campus on Saturday, September 28th, 2024.

In his welcoming address, the chief host of the event and the Vice-Chancellor of SUN, Prof. Ajith Kumar V. V., said, “It is an honor and pleasure to host you today on our campus for this memorable occasion. In the past, the university has benefited immensely from your support, including the book donation for our students to thrive.” He appreciated the delegation for coming to interact with the staff and students of SUN.

In his address, the High Commissioner said, “It is always a nice feeling whenever I visit the university. It gives me assurance of a bright future for teeming youth around the world, especially for the future, economy and the development of their countries.”

He narrated that India-Nigeria relations date back to the country’s pre-independence and that has strengthened as the two countries developed over time. He said the bilateral relations date back to about 75 years. He identified that both countries were colonized by the same colonial masters; hence, the two countries have so many similarities.

His Excellency explained that Nigeria has benefited from the relationship in aspects of education, economy and health. “More than 200 companies are owned by Indian companies with worth over 27 billion. They are the second largest employers apart from the federal government of Nigeria,” he said.

India has supported Nigeria with educators and doctors in the past. Currently, in its vision to strengthen the country’s education sphere with scholarships and online courses. Nigeria is to receive 5000 out of the 15000 slots provided by India for African countries. He commended the exhilarating campus of SUN, which toured alongside principal officers of the university.

The registrar of SUN, Mr. Ahmed Muhammed Abdullahi, while delivering the closing remarks, said he was indeed happy to be part of the memorable occasion. He thanked the delegation for the visit and commended all SUN staff who ensured the success of the event.
