The Students Service Department at Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) has organized a fitness challenge for level 100 spring semester students 2023-2024 currently on campus. The event was conducted yesterday, July 16, 2024, at the university’s game field.
In his opening remarks during the event, Mr. Trimisiyu Lawal, the Head of Students Service Department (SSD) and a lecturer in the Department of Economics, stated that the session was important to equip students with practical skills for solving challenges. He thanked the university management for organizing such events to help in the emotional development of the students.
Speaking during the occasion, Mr. Musa Muhammad, the head of the sports department at the university, stated that fitness activities are very essential for youths from time to time. He said fitness includes cardiovascular functioning, which is improved by aerobic activities that get the heart and lungs working better.
Students participated in activities like egg races, fill-in-the basket, tug of war, relay races, and other interesting fitness activities. One of the key highlights of the events is that female students outshined male students by winning the tug of war challenge. Victors that emerged in all the challenges were rewarded for their exceptional performances.
Giving the concluding remarks, Dr. Olumide Ajayi, a lecturer in the department of general studies at SUN who observed the event, applauded the participation of the students. He encouraged them to continue being part of such programs to learn life-core skills, network with their peers and improve their well-being.
