In its ongoing changing gear series, the management of Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) has received the final-year students of Yandutse College, Kano, on Monday, 19th February 2024 and Tuesday, 20st February, 2024. The changing gear program is an opportunity for the students to interface with experts and be guided on strategic career choices.
Ms. Hamdi Lawan, a lecturer from the department of computer science, lectured the students on ‘Digital Skills’ on the first day. She said activities in the 21st century are largely driven by digital knowledge. She added that the digital age is propelled by the contributions of youth and thus, it is very important that they have knowledge of digital skills.
On the second day, the students were lectured on the topic ‘Building Resilience: Overcoming Academic Challenges and Imposter Syndrome’, by Mr. Miracle Livinus, a lecturer in the department of biochemistry at SUN. He advised the students to be personal motivators so that they could effectively solve academic challenges.
Mr. Livinus also said that the students must understand the importance of emotional management, planning and goal-setting for academic success. He added that tertiary education is seen as a free world and that is why it is essential for them to be focused.
Ms. Sarada Maganti, the Director Academic Support Services (DASS), said in her closing remarks that the SUN has understood the challenges faced by final-year students, which is why it curated the changing gear program to address that educational problem.
