Skyline University Nigeria students have, on Saturday, October 5, 2024, launched a tech start-up in Kano State. The idea for the start-up, Techlife, was initiated after the students participation at the Tie Dubai MENA competition that was held in April 2024, where Aisha Kabir, a student of SUN, emerged as the as the second runner-up winner.
The start-up, Techlife, was established to serve customers around the world with services ranging from website design, software development, IT training, and inventory systems, among many other technology-related services.
Congratulating the students, the Vice-Chancellor of SUN, Prof. Ajith Kumar V. V., said the university will forever remain proud of the students. He reiterated that “the launch of the start-up is a testament to the university’s unwavering commitment to producing job creators, not job seekers.” He admitted that the students have demonstrated that their learning at the university is a catalyst for them to realize their dreams. He then wished them the best in their studies and the success of their start-up.
In her remarks, Dr. Sudha Mavuri, the Dean of the School of Arts, Management, and Social Sciences (SAMSS), who was present at the launch, said she was impressed with the students handiwork. She said the faculty are ready to support the students to take the start-up to enviable heights.
In his speech during the launch of the start-up, Yusuf Saleh Muhammad, a level 300 student at the Department of Software Engineering at SUN and the CEO/co-founder of the start-up, lauded the management of SUN for equipping them with the right knowledge to chase their dreams. He said the Tie Dubai MENA competition that they participated in was indeed a catalyst to the realization of their start-up. He appreciated SUN on behalf of his team for its tireless effort in helping them build their careers.
Members of the start-up who are also students at SUN are the human resource, Ahmad Adam Yahya, a student of software engineering; product manager, Muhammad Alhassan Muhammad from software engineering; general manager, Umar Shehu Muhammad from software engineering; chief operations officer, Abubakar Sadiq Ibrahim from software engineering; chief marketing officer, Muhammad Mansur Bello from software engineering; chief technology officer, Rabiu Yahya Garba from computer science; and managing director, Abduljalil Saleh Muhammad.
In the past, a student of SUN from the Department of Entrepreneurship also launched a business start-up, AM Jannah Enterprises.
