Skyline University Nigeria students pay technical visit to Tamburawa Water Plant

Level 400 students of Physiotherapy and Nursing departments from the School of Basic Medical Science (SBMS) at Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) have paid a technical visit to Tamburawa Water Plant in Kano State. The visit was to expose the students to insightful experience to enhance their understanding of water treatment processes and public health.

During the visit, the students were guided through the various stages of the water treatment process, including coagulation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection. The tour provided them with a first-hand understanding of how water is treated and made safe for public consumption, highlighting the critical link between water quality and public health outcomes.

In addition to observing the technical processes, the students interacted with plant officials who explained the importance of maintaining high standards in water treatment and the health implications of waterborne diseases. This practical experience served to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and practical application in the field of healthcare.

The visit to Tamburawa Water Plant reinforced the students’ awareness of the role healthcare professionals play in promoting environmental and public health. It also inspired a deeper appreciation for interdisciplinary collaboration in safeguarding community health through preventive measures and health education.

The students were accompanied by the faculty of the school – Mr. Yusuf Usman, Ms. Fatima Musa and Mrs. Aisha Shehu – under the leadership of the Dean of the school, Prof. Faruk Sarkin Fada.
