SUN Founder Chairman launches Skyline University Certificate in Hospitality Practice: An RMK Initiative

The Founder Chairman of Skyline University Nigeria (SUN), Mr. Kamal Puri, has officially launched the Skyline University Certificate in Hospitality Practice, which is a Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso Initiative. The program was launched on Monday, November 18, 2024, at the university’s auditorium.

Mr. Puri started his speech by acknowledging the efforts of His Excellency Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for gearing the efforts to support youth education through the initiative in collaboration with SUN Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. He said tourism is a broad field of endeavor that keeps growing and evolving rapidly.

As a seasoned hospitality expert who has worked in strategic places around the world like the UAE and Saudi Arabia, he explained that there is a huge potential for youth in the hospitality industry. He said, “Nigeria has a population of about 235 million with an economy of 365 billion, which makes it an important location for the industry to thrive.”

“Tourism and hospitality is the world’s largest industry, with over 1.6 billion consumers per year and a figure amounting to 1.77 trillion dollars,” he said. Mr. Puri highlighted that the beneficiaries will be coached on technical skills, human skills and conceptual skills. With the qualification they will receive, they can be able to secure job opportunities anywhere in the world, as the certificate is recognized worldwide.

The founder chairman also encouraged them to pursue areas of their interest in the industry globally in areas like transportation, which includes rail, road and sea, hotels and motels; sports; event and eco-tourism among many others.

Giving his remarks during the event, the Vice-Chancellor of SUN, Prof. Ajith Kumar V. V., stated that what is most interesting about the course is the internship opportunities. He said it will give the students the opportunity to learn the practical aspects of the job before they pursue their future endeavors. He encouraged them to manage time effectively and learn as much during the program.

Some of the beneficiaries who were present during the launch expressed their happiness and promised that they would make the best use of the opportunity to excel.
