The Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) chapter has conducted the Apptastic Challenge 2024. The event was conducted on the 25th of January, 2024 with the theme Mobile Application Competition.

Delivering the opening remarks, the Dean of the School of Science and Information Technology (SSIT), Dr. A. Senthil Kumar, said the challenge is an important activity that sets out to advance the careers of SUN students in mobile application development. He admitted that the competition is done to encourage students to be innovative by trying out new ideas that can solve 21st century challenges.

Dr. Ashok Kumar, a lecturer in the department of computer science at SUN, who gave an introduction to the event, said technology-based courses require practical knowledge that is gained as a result of such challenges. He said the IEEE chapter at the university is doing tremendously well in motivating students to explore tech opportunities.

Students from the departments of computer science, cyber security, software engineering and other IEEE students participated in the competition. The students who emerged victorious were decorated with medals.

In closing, Ms. Hamdi Labaran, also a lecturer in the department of computer science, thanked the university management for organizing the event for the students. She said the event has ignited and motivated the students to discover new skills and opportunities through mobile application development. With that, they are well equipped to contribute at a global level.
