While making his presentation titled ‘Knowledge, Skills and value-based education’ as it relates to the vision, mission and core values of Skyline University Nigeria, the Vice-Chancellor said that the success that Skyline University College (SUC) has had within 3 decades of her existence in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) through the approach of a skill and value-based education has confirmed our creditability and sustainable educational goals in Nigeria.
Professor Sudhakar Kota gave the charge on Tuesday, October 15th 2019, at the freshers’ orientation ceremony organized for fresh students of the institution of higher learning. In his remark, he listed the core values as personal and academic integrity, innovative thinking and entrepreneurship, professionalism and leadership, good governance and management, ethical behaviour, multi-cultural awareness and tolerance, and sustainability of the resource.
He noted that no single core value is independent of the other to help achieve the desired academic and professional goals. “A university organizational life is truly complex with competing objectives, particularly in teaching and research. We have developed the academic core values to help everyone stake a claim of unique and valued contribution”. The Vice-chancellor added.
In his remark to the undergraduate fresh students, the Registrar, Mr. Firoj Routa, spoke on the importance of adhering to universities rules and guidelines, from academic integrity to freedom of expression, diversity and community, honesty and corporation in university matters, respect to others, discrimination or harassment, as well as the course requirements and general institutional guides. He added that “Skyline University Nigeria is a unique product and our regulations, if you abide, will help your minds start to think of how to solve problems throughout your stay in the university”.
In the course of the orientation ceremony, members of the management of Skyline University Nigeria gave a variety of encouragement and advice to the new students. While giving her closing remark, the Director of Academic Support Services, Ms. Sarada Maganti encouraged the students to be a better ambassador of Skyline University Nigeria.
