Introduction

The Corporate Affairs Office (CAO) is responsible for building long term relationships with government & corporate establishments for mutual benefits and partnerships, which get into Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and includes the following collaborations: Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES); Placements of Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) Students after graduation; Guest Lectures & Technical Visits; Participation in Management Development Programmes (MDPs); Local and International Conferences; Schools and Universities Educational Fairs;  Curriculum Enhancement; Students Industrial Inputs; Industry Professional Trainings; Panel Discussions and Community Development programmes. CAO also engages in identifying the Industrial Training needs and knowledge, skills & competencies expected from students to enhance employability.

CAO engages with top international universities & polytechnics offering HND programmes by signing MoUs and articulation agreements to promote cooperation in various activities like faculty and student exchange programmes, community engagement, international SIWES, collaborative research and project works etc.

Strategic Plans

The Corporate Affairs Office provides strategic Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) leadership for the University. We aim to develop good long term relationships with corporates and different academic institutions which will facilitate students to understand best practices of the corporate world, enable them to get exposure through internships and finally get good placements. We also help the students to transfer or find different academic Programmemes for the future through articulation agreements. We plan to increase the employability of the students by understanding the requirement of the industry and send feedback to academia for the development of new courses. The CAO is to identify the sectors per year to be targeted and develop a strategy to enhance partnerships, maximize the number of internships and placements for the graduates. Developing feedback mechanism with Industry is an important factor for developing refreshing courses which will help individuals or groups to upgrade their profiles, inline career streams and benefit on a professional scale.

Through various activities in Nigeria and abroad we plan to attend conferences and exhibition for the student to fully experience new developing technologies in their chosen course. We aim to create internationally diverse and inclusive communities, serving as a bridge-builder by engaging students with a local and international community of all backgrounds to ensure personal, academic, and professional growth and SUN success. To encourage students to participate in various external competitions, expanding their horizons to network and compete with students from other universities.

Networking

Corporate Affairs Office facilitates students to develop networking with the corporate world by providing them with an opportunity to participate in various summits and conferences in Sharjah, Dubai and Nigeria which will help students to network. The students will be oriented for the importance and approaches of networking and the desirable etiquettes during the event.

Community Engagement

The Corporate Affairs Office identifies organizations or other institutions that are willing to collaborate with SUN to serve the society at national and international level. Community engagement activities can be joint community projects or social development Programmemes. Through SUN activities, awareness is created among the student community to pursue community engagement services during their study period and continue throughout their life.

Articulation

Corporate Affairs department in Skyline University Nigeria is in the process of establishing articulation agreements with various Universities & Polytechnics in Nigeria, Ghana, UAE, UK, USA etc., which facilitates faculty and students exchange Programme.

Internship

The internship Programme of Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) assists students to work and learn in a professional environment and get prepared for embarking on employment careers. The internship facilitates students to be able to apply the knowledge gained in the classrooms in a work setting, this process enriches the student learning experience and helps them transit into the corporate world. Corporate Affairs Office coordinates with corporate organizations and identifies internship opportunities for the SUN students studying Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in the School of Arts, Management & Social Sciences (SAMSS) and the School of Science and Information Technology (SSIT).

Placements

Corporate Affairs gives placement assistance to all the students of SUN. Any student who is enrolled in the Programmes offered by Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) is automatically eligible for the placements. The focus is 100% placement assistance of SUN students.

PSDP

The Professional Skill Development Programmemmes (PSDP) at Skyline University Nigeria is the outcome of the vision of the founder president of Skyline University Nigeria Mr. Kamal Puri. This initiative enables students to develop their professional skills and abilities to become active entrepreneurs as well as life-long learners.

The spread of activities has been divided into four levels as per the level of the students in the Programme. The PSDP Programmeme is a zero credit-bearing Programmeme with no additional fee implication on the students. Students must attend a minimum of four sessions per year out of the announced sessions, which would total to four hours. Additionally, the student would be expected to complete tasks assigned during sessions (e.g. CV Design etc.). Attendance and task completion shall be strictly recorded for reference purposes.

Students need to complete the PSDP Programmemes requirement for the freshman and Direct Entry levels before proceeding to the next level before graduating.

Q: How can I find out about activities or events being held? 

We announce our activities through Notice Boards, E-Mails, SMS, the SUN website and Facebook.

Q: How can I sign up for any activity?

Simply pass by our department on the First Floor (next to the SSD office) and sign up or send an email to ssd@sun.edu.ng. We encourage our students to participate in external university competitions too. 

Q: How can I join a student committees/club?

Register online on your portal or visit the Students Services Department (SSD) to register into the clubs and committee members on the spot

Q: How long is a club/committee membership valid for?

All memberships are valid for one year. 

Q: How is the core council elected for each club/committee?

All core councils are selected through the process of voting by the members. Each year new councils are elected.

Q: How do I find out about meeting timings?

Meeting timings will be informed through sms, notice boards and updates on your portal.

Q: Do I receive any scholarship for being a part of extracurricular activities?

Rewardship Programme is a scholarship provided to students based on the number of hours they spend on extracurricular activities. Rewardship booklets will be provided at the beginning of the semester.

Q: What other benefits do I receive being a part of extracurricular activities?

It is a great opportunity to learn new things, build stronger personal skills and meet new people. It also helps to build your resume and increase scholarship opportunities. All active members are provided with certificates at the end of the semester. 

Q: What are the office hours of the Events Department?

Events Department is open from 8:30 am till 6:00 pm on weekdays and they would be able to provide you with any information you require.

Q: What do I need to become a student organizer in SUN Events Committee?

Register online on your portal or attend the Clubs Meetings to meet the committee members and register on the spot. You can also join in on the meetings mid-semester or stop by the events department. 

Q: Can I write for the Newsline magazine if I’m not in the committee?

Yes, we accept all student contributions on various topics. We also encourage students to showcase their talents of art and poetry in the magazine

How active is the Alumni Club?

SUN graduates automatically become SUN alumni. The present students of SUN form part of SUN Alumni club which organizes alumni events and activities regularly in the academic year. The orientation is given to final year students during spring semester informing them about the various benefits of becoming an integral part of SUN Alumni body once they graduate. 

Corporate Affairs Office organizes a yearly meet to help strengthen their ties and improve their network.
