SUN at a Glance

Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) was established in 2018 with the focus on providing internationally recognized high-quality tertiary education via state-of-the-art infrastructure, modern technology and international manpower to close the gap and provide solutions and relevant exposure to students who wish to secure high-quality education abroad. The aim was to curve the growing population of high school graduates and enrich them with knowledge, skills and value-based education empowering them to graduate as Job providers rather than job seekers.

SUN philosophy was initiated by the founders of its mother campus Skyline University College (SUC) located in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, which happens to be the first Private University in UAE, and has been in existence for over 3 decades. SUN was conceived as a university that would focus on research, internalization, entrepreneurship and technology while providing education modeled after Its mother campus – SUC’s practices in content and teaching mythologies, impacting the same internationalization by acquiring AACSB and ABET accreditations for equalizing the programmes to international standards, so that the students will have opportunities for mobility between local and international universities.

SUN formation was approved and awarded a provisional license to operate as a private university in May 2018 by National Universities Commission (NUC) to run 2 schools – The School of Arts, Management and Social Science (SAMSS), and the School of Science and Information Technology (SSIT) and having satisfied all the criteria, was awarded a permanent license to operate as a full-fledged private University in Nigeria by NUC in November 2022, receiving approval to run additional schools – School of Basic Medical Sciences (SBMS) and the School of Legal Studies (SLS). In 2023, SUN also received approval from NUC to run the School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS).

Through its 5 years of successful operation and within a short period, SUN – the first fully accredited private University in Kano State has made an impact for itself in the local and international markets as a quality education provider by securing positions of Number 1 University in Internationalization, Number 1 private University in North-Western Nigeria, Number 8 private University in Nigeria and Number 16 University in Nigeria as per NUC ranking for Academic Year 21/22.
