Timothy P. Bata

Timothy P. Bata is a Professor of Petroleum Geology/Sedimentology in the Department of Geology. He holds a Ph.D. in Petroleum Geology from the University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom, M.Sc. in Petroleum Geology/Sedimentology from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, and a B.Sc. in Geology from the University of Maiduguri, Borno State. Timothy is a seasoned researcher and has successfully supervised several Ph.Ds. and M.Scs. He is a fellow of the British Geological Society and a member of several other professional bodies, including the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists, Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society, the Geological Society of America, and American Association for Science and Technology. He has many publications to his credit (both national and international), and has presented various papers at international conferences, seminars and workshops.

Prof. Timothy P. Bata – who is currently on sabbatical leave at Skyline University Nigeria – has been working with Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University for about 23 years. He also worked as a visiting professor with the University of Jos and Yobe State University.

Prof. Bata’s current research interests includes: Petroleum Exploration and exploration for placer mineral resources.
