Train the Trainer: SUN trains educators on digital skills

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) educational initiatives, Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) has again trained another set of educators on Monday, May 6th, 2024, at the university’s campus. The training was particularly done to educate the participants on the necessity of obtaining the right knowledge about digital skills and their importance in effective work delivery.

In his opening remarks, the Dean of the School of Science and Information Technology (SSIT), Dr. A. Senthil Kumar, said digital skills are inescapable in today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world. He added that digital skills will enable them to deliver their work more efficiently.

Delivering his lecture titled ‘Web Conferencing Applications’, Dr. Kumar explained that the digital world has transformed the way formal and public engagements are carried outThe only way for public service providers to stay relevant is to consistently step up their learning by embracing new ways of discharging their activities, he said.

He also demonstrated how web conferencing applications like Zoom and Teams are used, right from initiating meetings to hosting them. Dr. Kumar thoroughly explained that the digitally enabled conferencing applications have bridged the barrier of space and time, ensuring work does not stop because of absenteeism from duty or any related problem.

Dr. Ashok Kumar, a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at SUN, also demonstrated how the Google Meet application can be used as a substitute for Zoom and Teams when needed. He stated that all the verified applications can be used based on the specifics and proficiency of the user. He then emphasized keeping up with technological advancement to facilitate development in Kano State and beyond.

In their distinct remarks, the participants applauded SUN for the effective delivery of the training. They said their knowledge would surely be applied in their office activities to ensure efficiency.
