While receiving the visiting team, the Kano State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Engr. Ahmed Ibrahim Karaye, stated that partnership with Skyline University Nigeria will allow both parties to work together to promote local experiences to domestic and international visitors as well as broaden the range of experiences available at each tourism destinations in Kano State, such as the Museum, the Zoo, Tiga Dam, Dan Hausa museum, Karaye Chalewa Gorje Dam, etc. “we would love to have a proposal from the university for consideration” he added.
The Vice-Chancellor of Skyline University Nigeria, Professor Sudhakar Kota, who led other principal officers of the university management to the Kano State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, stated that the meeting was coming at a time when the university has submitted application with the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence Tourism and Hospitality management courses, as well as other medical courses.
The global world, he posited needed leaders with innovative strategies to spark development. He stated that this partnership will develop tour guide training in cultural, leisure as well as advertorial tourism in Kano State while requesting the Ministry to render information about the tourism sites needed to be explored.
Dr. Shahid Khan, a Senior Lecturer in Tourism and Hotel Management, who along with the Head of Corporate Affairs, Engr. Bashir Garba, accompanied the Vice-Chancellor to the meeting stated that Kano State needed to leverage the immense resources in tourism to drive economic prosperity. He added that together, what has been successfully tested in the UAE and US, will be implemented in Kano State.
The Commissioner, Hon. Engr. Ahmed, in his closing remarks, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor of Skyline University Nigeria, Prof. Kota for honouring his invitation and thanked the management of Skyline University Nigeria for embracing the initiative.
