PSDP FOR LAW STUDENTS

Faculty of Law conducts its first Professional Skill Development Program (PSDP)

The Students Service Department (SSD) at Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) has organized a Professional Skills Development Program (PSDP) for law students. The event was conducted yesterday, April 25th, 2024, at the university campus.

The Dean of the School of Law (SLS), Prof. Bashiru Adeniyi Omipidan, while delivering his opening remarks, said he was pleased with the turnout of students for the session. He admitted his confidence in how the session will be impactful in the professional lives of the students.

In his lecture to the students titled ‘Punctuality as the Hallmark of a Good Lawyer’, Bar. Tajudeen Abdullahi, the guest speaker, stated that punctuality starts at the university as the foundation for future success in the legal profession. He advised the students to be punctual at the university and subsequently in their law school.

With punctuality, you can earn recommendations from court officials and the audience, he said. Bar. Abdullahi then thanked the management of the university for inviting him to speak to the students.

On his part, Dr. Ali Abubakar Chifwang, a lecturer in the School of Legal Studies (SLS) at SUN, who also delivered a lecture to the students titled ‘Ethics of the Legal Profession’, he emphasized truth, integrity, and justice. He said legal systems around the world are built on the principles of truth and justice and every legal practitioner is supposed to abide by them.

Prof. Omipidan, in his closing remarks, said the law course does not only impact knowledge for students but also helps them inculcate values and ethics for future endeavors. He then applauded the presence of Bar. Abdullahi for educating the students about the importance of punctuality in the legal profession.
