The Department of Management at Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) organized a guest lecture and students’ paper presentation in commemoration of World Savings Day 2023. The lecture themed ‘Savings and Investment Alternatives’ for levels 300 and 400 of Economics, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship and Accounting.
According to the guest speaker, Mr. Arafat Aminu Ahmad, the relationship officer at Keystone Bank, Kano branch, it is quite imperative to introduce benefit savings for youths at their early career stage. He said there are endless opportunities for youths in entrepreneurship and innovation, which can only be sustainable through savings and investment.
Mr. Ahmad then commended the management of SUN for inviting him to share his experience with the students as they prepare for financial future challenges. He also encouraged the students to maximize the resources available in the university, start preparing early for successful future endeavors and be financially disciplined.
Speaking during the event, Dr. Senthil Kumar, the Head of the Department of Management at SUN, stated that learning and knowledge acquisition at higher education institutions, when coupled with expert experience, yield the best results. He said savings and investment are currently very critical for a sustainable business, especially for youth. He motivated the students to cultivate good networks with professionals to be updated with financial knowledge as the financial world transforms.
Some of the students who attended the session and others who presented papers relating to finance expressed their satisfaction with the execution of the event. The celebration was done to inculcate financial literacy skills in youth, which are desperately needed in today’s uncertain economic world.
