while speaking during a courtesy call to the Kano State Police Commissioner, CP Ahmed Iliyasu on Tuesday 17th September 2019, said that “Skyline University Nigeria is happy going into collaboration with the Kano State Police Command for manpower development of the officers and their children through a scholarship for qualified individuals to run undergraduate degree and management development Programmemes with Skyline University”.
Mr. Nitin said further that the same collaboration could be extended to Nigeria Correctional Service (formerly known as Nigeria Prison Service) in the training of inmates on Information Technology (IT) as part of the institution’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
According to him, “Training prisoners on IT will help to prepare offenders for return to their communities and reduce the tendency of a convicted criminal to re-offend”. He added that “Skyline University Nigeria will offer education, adult continuing education and IT services to prisoners to address career needs and develop work skills”.
On the undergraduate and management development Programmemes, for police officers, Mr. Nitin Anand awarded a 40 million naira scholarship fund allocation to the Kano State Police Command. As he said, “this approach will help to develop analytical minds through the adoption of research methodology to the problems that need to be solved for the society to be safer”. (PCRC) pact.
The Kano State Police Commissioner while hosting the team led by the Pro-Chancellor, welcomed the idea and urged the management of Skyline University Nigeria to send a formal document to the Kano State Police Command. He further invited the management of the institution of higher learning to apply and participate in the Police Community Relationship Committee (PCRC) pact.
Skyline University Nigeria has made similar remarkable collaboration in such a short time since its inception in Nigeria, particularly in collaboration with likeminded institutions of higher learning, universities’ libraries and students. International faculties’ transfers, research and articulation, capacity strengthening, e-learning etc. are some of the steps the university is taking to enhance its unique vision.
In his closing remark, the CP Ahmed Iliyasu commended the high level of professionalism exhibited by the management of Skyline University Nigeria and promised to visit the university in due course.
