SUN International Status Affirmed at the 103rd AULNU Annual Meeting

The 2019 bi-annual conference and annual general meeting of the AULNU under the theme “Repositioning the Nigerian University Libraries for Global Best Practices” took place at the Idris Audulkadir auditorium of the National Universities Commission (NUC) Abuja to see the possible way of repositioning the Nigerian University Libraries for Global Best Practices and to create a consortium for effective library services.

The Association of University Librarians of Nigerian Universities (AULNU) formally known as Committee of University Librarians of Nigerian Universities (CULNU), is the forum for discussing matters of formulating policies relating to university libraries in Nigeria and advising on library and information services.

Present at the meeting were University librarians of Covenant University, Bells University, Sule Lamido University, Benson Idahosa University, Bingham University, Federal University Gusau, University of Benin, Bauchi State University, Kano University of Science and Technology, Hallmark University, Umaru Musa Yar Adua University, Federal University Birnin Kebbi, Ahmadu Bello University, University of Abuja, University of Lagos, Bayero University Kano, University of Nsukka, University of Jos, University of Ile Ife, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Afe babalola University, University of Africa, Rivers State University, Adamawa State University, Edo State University, Tai Solarin University of Education, First Technical University, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ondo University of Science and Technology, Modibbo Adama University, Bowen University, Federal University Otuoke, Safari Books, ProQuest Company, Emerald Publishers, Progressive Educational, Manny Books etc.

The AULNU Chairman, Dr O.O. Adedeji, speaking at the meeting, affirms that an official letter will be sent to the Executive Secretary of the NUC on the issues raised by Nigerian Private Universities on their request to be included in the resource verification and accreditation exercise normally conducted by the NUC.

Equally, Librarian of Skyline University Nigeria, along with the members of the AULNU, will be given the opportunity for a Periodic and library tour to other libraries in the western world. This will immensely expose them to benefit and aligned their policy with international standard.
