Human Resources

The Human Resources Department (HRD) is responsible for fulfilling the Vision and Mission of Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) by developing sound HR policies that provides a conducive work environment and develops a positive work and learning culture to enhance quality in SUN. The HRD helps in recruiting, retaining, motivating and developing a team of capable and dedicated Academic and Academic Support Services employees who are oriented to professionally achieve SUN objectives.

The HRD engages in continuous updates of Faculty & Staff Members so as to professionally respond to the day-to-day challenges in the work environment. To ensure each employee keep abreast with the ever-changing trends, HRD coordinates the need-based Faculty and Staff development Programmes. ​

  1. To plan and recruit faculty and staff members from diverse cultural and functional backgrounds to ensure the quality of academic delivery
  2. To plan for employee orientation for current jobs and future roles
  3. Providing documented employee records as per the standard requirements
  4. Provide employee training and development
  5. To review compensation and benefits
  6. To review, develop and implement HR policies
  7. To retain employees and enhance belongingness.
  1. Ensure recruitment is done as per the agreed timelines
  2. Employ faculty based on NUC requirement to get a mix of international and local faculties
  3. Ensuring full time and part time faculty ratio and ensure that student-faculty ratio is maintained.
  4. Maintaining faculty and staff databases (full time/part time) through online submission, recruitment agents and direct application.
  5. Ensuring complete employee planning process as per the teaching loads, recruitment criteria and grading scales.
  6. Ensuring proper introduction and orientation of new employees to their new environment and making them feel comfortable.
  7. Handing over proper JDs to convey what is expected from employees on the job and the organization.
  8. Proper orientation on goal settings, evaluation systems and reporting systems
  9. Processing of feedback during probation.
  10. Collecting and updating employee database
  11. Ensuring proper employee files are audited and evaluating faculty and staff as per evaluation manuals and their Goal Setting achievements.
  12. Organizing get togethers and other togetherness events
  13. Ensuring faculty and staff satisfaction surveys, feedback, grievances addressing mechanism and procedure
  14. Ensuring employee retention and productivity.
  1. To have an effective recruitment policy the Staff Search Committee is in place constituting of Dean, HEAD HR and concerned HOD. The committee engages in identifying suitable candidates for vacant positions from varied sources.
  2. Staff Search Committee initiates the process of Staff recruitment based on the vacancy arising due to resignation, termination, retirement, promotion, and/or additional Staff requirements because of the expansion of operations.
  3. Department Head in coordination with HR and Dean plans for Staff resources requirement for the Academic Year and identified and recruit suitable candidate for the Academic Support Services position.

  • Minimum of 15/ 10 /6 /4 years of teaching and research experience respectively.
  • A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise under-graduate students.
  • Candidate should have experience of teaching in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Applicant must be a computer literate with skills in Microsoft Office.

Requirements 

  • At least 10 years’ experience in managing a busy library, preferably an academic library
  • Excellent inter personal and communication skills
  • Must be computer literate and well versed with latest developments in library technology
  • A degree in information system is desirable
  • Ability to oversee development of software development plan
  • Ability to establish rapport with staff, students and faculty
  • Must have the knowledge of the complete BMAS as per NUC criteria
  • Ability to present oneself in an appropriately personable and professional manner to library users.

    Ø  How is the Employee Orientation done in SUN?

    SUN carries out employment orientation to the newly appointed Employees in order to make them acquainted with the roles and responsibilities of the job, reporting systems and to achieve functional coordination desired between different Departments. The broad aim of the orientation is to provide information to new Employee & enable them to carry out their required roles and responsibilities in an effective manner.

    The main focus of the SUN orientation process is to:

    A.    Enable new Employee to settle down as soon as possible in the multicultural work environment.

    B.     Enable to build relationships and rapport with colleagues.

    C.     Understand the scope of academic responsibilities of the position.

    D.    Get acquainted with the functioning of SUN in a holistic manner.

    Full-time Faculty and Staff Members are not allowed to be employed or teach in any other institution. Outside employment is considered as Breach of Contract.

     

    Ø  What are the Working Hours?

    SUN observes five days a week. The daily working hours from Monday to Friday are 0830 Hrs To 1800 Hrs with break period taken as per schedule provided by Department Head. Please note that these working hours and other provisions provided may be modified from time to time by the management for operational reasons as per SUN Policy and Procedure.
