SUN – ICAN Partnership Will Help Fast-track Varsity Entrepreneurship Goals – ICAN Chairman

While welcoming the ICAN Chairman, the University’s Registrar, Mr. Satya Vir Singh with other speakers of notable positions who described Accounting as a global Programmeme solicited ICAN support to give students the very best. He expressed interest in having a mutual and cordial relationship between the university and ICAN, adding that the minimum requirement for accreditation would be maintained by the university.

According to him, the goal of Skyline University Nigeria is to see to the development of a more highly skilled graduates to spearhead much of Nigeria’s transformation agendas, especially in building entrepreneurs and to ensure that the industries have highly employable graduates at their disposal to manage the sector.

Chief Oye Akinsulire of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria said that studies have shown that institutions that collaborated with ICAN typically had higher productivity rates as per quality graduates than institutions that did not have such collaboration. He added that institutions that collaborated also enjoyed greater benefits in terms of producing quality students at a competitive cost.

According to him, there will be a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between both parties in which the ICAN curriculum would be incorporated into the school’s, thereby exposing Skyline University Nigeria Accounting students to both the academics as well as the professional side of accounting.

He also encouraged the management of SUN to work towards embracing ICAN’s Mutual Corporation Agreement with tertiary institutions (MCATI). He explained that the agreement would give the students of the institution exemption from eleven subjects as against the normal seven subjects given to accounting graduates of Institutions not under the MCATI Programmeme.

In the move to reposition Skyline University Nigeria for the next dimension of excellence towards the actualization of its overall vision and mission, the management of the university has pursued similar collaboration with other professional bodies in the past, such as the ACCA, IATA, CTH, Toast Masters International etc. to help build the confidence of students and changing the face of education in the north, especially having the students of SUN start from the base, so that from first semester, the mind is already opened towards entrepreneurship and leadership building.
