Members of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Aisha Mohammad, the NUC Resource Person, accompanied by Ms. F’aiza Mohammad the NUC Verification Officer, have paid a resource verification visit to Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) campus. The visit which took place on 6th September 2021 will assess the level of preparedness of the university to commence undergraduate Programmemes in Tourism Management.
While stating the purpose of their visit, Prof. Aisha stated, “We are here to follow up on undergraduate Programmemes and facilities at all levels in paper, and what is on the ground”. She added that this will make graduates of Skyline University Nigeria to have not only a theatrical foundation but practical knowledge as well. She appreciated the SUN management for a warm reception.
Receiving the delegation in his office, the Vice-Chancellor of Skyline University Nigeria, Prof. Ajith Kumar V.V, stated that one of the main focus of the university is to give quality education to the society with international best practices. He added that over the years, given the quality of Programmemes being offered, the university had gotten to a level where it should easily attract students of other West African countries.
Prof. Ajith, while giving a situational report of the state of SUN campus, Programmemes and faculty said education should be driven by the demands of the open market. He emphasized some of the potentials of the Tourism and Hospitality Industry, and their impact on employment and human resources. He appreciated the NUC for what it stands for in the context of higher education in Nigeria and enjoined them to have a smooth time in the university, renowned for quality Programmemes and research.
In the cause of the visit, the NUC-led team on resource verification inspected some facilities in the University, including the Computer Laboratory, the University’s Library, and Students Lecture rooms, among others. Other areas of interest for the university are in the approvals of Nursing and Physiotherapy.
