Routine Inspection: SUN receives a delegation from Ministry of Labor and Employment

The management of Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) has received a delegation from the Federal Ministry of Labor and Employment (FMLE) on Wednesday 3th April, 2024. The visit was an annual routine inspection done to ensure that institutions are complying with the ministry’s standards.

The delegation from the ministry who visited the university were Mr. Ibrahim Ado, the state Controller of Labor at the ministry, Mr. Nasir Usman Senior Labor Officer and Mr. Suleiman Dauda Suleiman Labor Officer II.

The Registrar of SUN, Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Abdullahi, who received the delegation on behalf of the management, said the university is pleased to receive the delegation as it ensures compliance with all policies of the ministry. He also appreciated the ministry for its continuous support of education through the establishment of policies.

Mr. Abdullahi delivered a presentation on the policies of recruitment, leave, training and physical inspection of facilities alongside the team from the SUN Human Resource Department: Mr. M. Yesudhason, Head of HR Department and Mr. Edwin Thomas Otene HR Supervisor.

The Registrar explained that the university has put in place effective orientation strategies for new members joining the institution and training for existing staff. He stated that there are programs such as Staff Development Programs (SDP) and Faculty Development Programs (FDP) aimed at equipping staff with recent knowledge in their fields of endeavor.

In his remarks, the state controller for labor expressed his satisfaction with the skills aspect prioritized by the SUN for the students in order to support them in becoming employers of labor. He said, “This is my first time hearing such in a tertiary institution and it should be sustained.”

He admitted that SUN’s recruitment process is in line with the provision of labor and full compliance with labor laws. Mr. Ado also commended the aspects of equity, entertainment and sports for leisure. He said sports in particular will enhance the performance of staff.

He thanked the management for the warm reception and the Registrar for his detailed explanation.
