Skyline University Nigeria launches IELTS Test Center and partnership with British Council Nigeria

Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) has today, 27th March 2024, officially launched the IELTS Test Center and partnership with the British Council Nigeria. The event was held in the conference hall of the SUN campus.

Delivering the opening remarks, Mr. Ahmed Muhammed Abdullahi, the registrar of SUN, said, “This great occasion today has given me the certainty that Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) will surely stand the test of time in the education sphere in Nigeria.” He appreciated all the invited guests for joining the management in launching the IELTS Test Center at the university.

In his keynote address, the Vice-Chancellor of SUN, Prof. Ajith Kumar V. V., gave a brief history of the establishment of SUN. He admits that “this moment is truly a special one for me because, under my watch as the Vice-Chancellor of Skyline University Nigeria (SUN), our institution is launching the IELTS Test Centre after it has surpassed the accreditation processes by the British Council Nigeria.”

He added that “Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) will forever be grateful to British Council Nigeria, our collaborators, for establishing the IELTS Test Centre and for helping the institution attain this giant stride.” He lauded the efforts of Kano State Commissioner for Higher Education Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim KofarMata and the Commissioner of Education represented by Mr. Haruna Muhammad Fau’idau, the Director special assistant at the Ministry of Education, Kano.

The Director of Examinations at British Council Nigeria, Mr. Deep Adhikari, who gave a brief summary of the organization, said, “The British Council gives unparalleled access to young people in education and creative aspects, which include art, culture, e. t. c.” He also added that the British Council offers IELTS, one of the world’s most popular English language test, to support education in over 100 countries around the world.

Similarly, Mr. Samuel Sama, the Head of Business Development, British Council Nigeria, reiterated the support of British Council Nigeria in supporting the education of youths in the country. He highlighted that there are multiple IELTS locations in Nigeria with a huge network of partners. He added that there are a lot of benefits attached to the IELTS tests that will be provided both on paper and on computers.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Nitin Anand, the Pro Chancellor of SUN, said IELTS has always been at the back of the mind of the management. He said, “The management is always striving to collaborate with international bodies to bring more opportunities for the people in Kano.” He stated that the university will be supporting testers and ensuring that the standard is optimal and aligns with the goals of the British Council.

Mr. Anand thanked the directors, SUN staff, the British Council Nigeria, the Kano State Government and other invited guests for their support. He then chaired the official signing of the contract between SUN and the British Council Nigeria, represented by the SUN Vice-Chancellor and Mr. Adhikari.

The Honorable Commissioner for Higher Education in Kano State, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim KofarMata, who was a special guest on the occasion, said it was indeed a joyful and wonderful moment. He said, “It was a new beginning for the British Council, SUN and the people of Kano. We need to see how we can empower students to learn more skills.”

The occasion closed with the presentation of the partnership plaque, the award of mementos to Mr. Adhikari and Dr. KofarMata and a tour around SUN’s exhilarating campus.
